Before the American Lung Association of California presents any awards
to Colleges (FC) regards to having a smoke free campus, I think it is
important to enforce the Smoking Ban first. Presently I think that
award this year is pre-mature to give this campus. This is a Great
School. I agree and am for the smoking ban on campus. I notice however
all the time people smoking outside the class, walking, standing around,
and I think many students have showed little or no concern for other
students and faculty. Smokers always think it is not such a big deal
and knowing that there is this ban, the school is unable to enforce the
rule and ban itself. Students smoke in between class, before class and
after class and rather than waiting until one gets in his/her car,
students light up like if the ban is not there.
Most People prefer not to make an issue of this ban when one sees
somebody smoking. I used to smoke a pack every two days, and now I
smoke a cigarette once in a while after a meal or something. But being
a smoker, former smoker, I think that second hand smoke bothers me more
than smoking itself. I notice that students light up all over this
campus, and I prefer not to walk by somebody smoking knowing that person
can wait until he gets to his car, or leaves campus.
But What do you do? I am not criticizing the ban, but the students that
frequently disregard the ban knowing that this school has done a
tremendous job on moving towards a smoke free campus. I was a bit
surprised when that occurred, and now I think it is important that if
the school is going to receive prestigious awards like the one coming
May 3, that it is not a slap in the face accepting the award knowing
that students don't care enough nor show that concern for the other
students, and the ban by students regularly smoking still on campus with
the ban in affect.
If students are going to continue to smoke on campus, to enforce this
ban, and to protect the integrity of this ban, I think students aught to
be fined 25 dollars per time smoking outside the parking area by their
cars. The Smoking Ban on Campus is not enforced presently, and it would
not be that difficult for Student Security to walk around and see if
some students are smoking on campus knowing there is already a rule in
place.
Students that smoke on Campus aught to consider other people, other
peoples health conditions, and other peoples experiences from loved ones
being ill from Cigarettes, or other related illness, even from second
hand smoke. This is an Issue that needs to be talked about more before
receiving any Award from the American Lung Association especially the
fact how Much that Award means so much to the school, teachers, faculty,
and students.

Happy President’s Day

February 18, 2008

Monday. I live so close to the Richard Nixon Presidential Library, but have never gone inside until Today. It was a remarkable place to be, and there were hundreds of people paying respects to the former President of the United States. I have to admit, after coming in the library, I have completely changed my attitude towards the Office, the President, past and present. The Office itself is a job that is difficult to do, and there have been President’s whom gave their lives for the Office. It is important to always protect the Office, the President. The Library Staff did such a wonderful job on the presentation. The way the museum is set up is awesome and educational, and the work that everyone is doing there people appreciate it.  I did a news report, brief, and it is on www.youtube.com/jamestowncalifornia, www.jamestowncalifornia.wordpress.com

thank you Conrad from Washington State. I appreciated the Work all the People put into the Museum. There were a lot of people that came in to pay their respects on the man himself, an important man to a lot of people. The Museum was packed with people from all over of the world. There were a lot of people from South East Asia, and I thought that was a big tribute some people have for the former President.
